- 40 saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the crackers evenly.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils. Continue boiling for 3 minutes.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the crackers, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until bubbly and golden around edges.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over hot caramel, and let sit for 5 minutes. Spread the melted chocolate evenly.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of salt or sprinkle sea salt on top after baking.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
