Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter (for browning)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: chopped nuts or extra chocolate for topping
Instructions
- Start by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns a golden-brown color and releases a nutty aroma, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Spread about two-thirds of the cookie dough evenly at the bottom of the pan.
- Pour the brownie batter over the cookie layer.
- Top with the remaining cookie dough, pressing down gently.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool before slicing.
Notes
- Customize your brookies by adding chopped nuts or extra chocolate chips to the batter.
- For an extra flavor boost, sprinkle sea salt on top before baking.
- Ensure the browned butter is cooled slightly to prevent cooking the eggs when mixed.
