  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 6-8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups Tater Tots (frozen)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, bread crumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes to start setting the meat.
  3. Remove from oven. Spread frozen Tater Tots evenly over the meatloaf. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top.
  4. Return to the oven and bake for another 20-25 minutes until Tater Tots are golden and crispy, and cheese is bubbling.

Notes

  • Make ahead: Prepare the meatloaf mixture in advance and refrigerate overnight before baking.
  • For a leaner version, substitute ground turkey or chicken.
  • Optional: Add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
