- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups Tater Tots (frozen)
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, bread crumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes to start setting the meat.
- Remove from oven. Spread frozen Tater Tots evenly over the meatloaf. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 20-25 minutes until Tater Tots are golden and crispy, and cheese is bubbling.
Notes
- Make ahead: Prepare the meatloaf mixture in advance and refrigerate overnight before baking.
- For a leaner version, substitute ground turkey or chicken.
- Optional: Add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
