Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or Italian herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly incorporated.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking dish. Ensure even distribution for uniform cooking.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the meatloaf for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Brush with extra ketchup or glaze halfway through baking for added flavor.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or your favorite sides.
Notes
- For enhanced flavor, add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
- Optionally, layer the top with bacon for extra moisture and smoky flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for later use. Reheat thoroughly before serving.
