Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped onion, chopped basil, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
- Shape half of the mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make a deep indentation in the center to hold the stuffing.
- Spread half of the marinara sauce over the meatloaf base. Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
- Place the remaining meat mixture over the cheese and sauce, carefully sealing the edges to form a loaf. Tuck in the sides to keep the filling inside.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the stuffed meatloaf for 45-50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). During the last 10 minutes, spoon additional marinara sauce over the top for extra flavor.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure proper internal temperature for safety.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes after baking to allow juices to redistribute.
- Feel free to add red pepper flakes or substitute herbs to customize flavor.
