Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the glaze:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet. Prepare the glaze by mixing ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard, then evenly spread over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for approximately 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Baste with extra glaze every 20 minutes to keep moist and flavorful.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, green beans, or cornbread for a true Southern comfort food experience.
Notes
- For a leaner version, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
- Add chopped bell peppers or shredded carrots for extra vegetables and nutrition.
- Use crushed crackers or oats instead of breadcrumbs for a different texture.
