Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: chopped parsley, crispy bacon bits, or sliced green onions
Instructions
- Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. Dice the onion and mince the garlic. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the diced onion until translucent, then add garlic and cook for another minute. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if needed.
- In a greased baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, followed by the cooked beef mixture, then another layer of potatoes. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a potato layer.
- In a small bowl, mix sour cream or Greek yogurt, milk, and half of the shredded cheese. Spread this mixture evenly over the layered casserole and sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese bubbles and turns golden brown. For extra crispiness, broil using your Ninja Air Fryer or broiler element for a few minutes.
