- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1 large egg
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add pumpkin puree, melted butter, egg, and the activated yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape into a log. Cut into equal slices and place in a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
- Can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
