- 1 lb boneless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cups cooked orzo pasta
- 1 cup grated Gruyere or Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a skillet, heat olive oil and caramelize sliced onions until golden brown. Add garlic and thyme, cook for 1 minute.
- In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, cooked orzo, sour cream, and half of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer mixture into a baking dish. Spread caramelized onions on top and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute Gruyere with Swiss or mozzarella cheese for different flavor profiles.
- For additional flavor, add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers.
