Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup caramel sauce (preferably homemade or high-quality store-bought)
- 2 sheets of puff pastry or homemade pie dough
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Pink or gold edible glitter (for a magical sparkle)
Instructions
- Start by tossing the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a mixing bowl. Let them sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out your puff pastry or pie dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut into circles that are large enough to hold the apple filling and fold over to form a pocket—about 4-6 inches in diameter.
- Spoon the spiced apple mixture into the center of each pastry circle. Drizzle a spoonful of caramel sauce over the apples. Fold the pastry over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with edible glitter.
- Place the assembled pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving. Optional: add extra caramel drizzle or sprinkle sugar magic dust for an enchanting presentation.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days. Reheat before serving for optimal crispness.
- Use gluten-free pastry and vegan caramel for allergy-friendly variations.
- Chopped nuts or dried cranberries can be added to the filling for extra flavor and texture.
