Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup, divided
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: chopped parsley or herbs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, eggs, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and half of the ketchup. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture onto a baking sheet or loaf pan and shape into a loaf shape for even cooking.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the meatloaf for 45-55 minutes, spreading remaining ketchup over the top in the last 10 minutes for a glaze.
- Once cooked, let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to retain juices and ensure tender slices.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- For gluten-free options, replace breadcrumbs with almond flour or gluten-free crackers.
- Add chopped herbs, cheese, or vegetables for extra flavor.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
