- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley or bell peppers for added flavor
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet. Form into a rounded loaf shape.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- During the last 15 minutes of baking, spread additional ketchup or a mix of ketchup and brown sugar on top of the meatloaf for a glaze.
Notes
- Let the meatloaf cool slightly before slicing for clean cuts.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 3 months.
- Reheat slices in the microwave or in the oven until warmed through.
