  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley or bell peppers for added flavor

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet. Form into a rounded loaf shape.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  4. During the last 15 minutes of baking, spread additional ketchup or a mix of ketchup and brown sugar on top of the meatloaf for a glaze.
