Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, sour cream, melted butter, vanilla extract, and eggs. Whisk until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Gradually add dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading evenly. Optional: sprinkle nuts or chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Tent with foil if the top browns too quickly.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature with butter or honey.
Notes
- For added flavor, incorporate nuts or chocolate chips into the batter.
- Store the cooled banana bread tightly wrapped in plastic wrap or an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
- For longer storage, freeze slices wrapped in foil or freezer bags; thaw at room temperature before serving.
