  • Yield: 10 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 slices of salami
  • 10 fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or mini mozzarella pearls)
  • 1/2 cup of marinara or pizza sauce (use red food coloring for extra effect)

  • Toothpicks or small skewers
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  2. Cut each salami slice in half to create wrapping pieces.
  3. Wrap a salami half around each mozzarella ball, securing with a toothpick if needed.
  4. Insert a black olive slice into the center of each mozzarella ball to mimic an eyeball pupil.
  5. Optional: add a tiny piece of red bell pepper around the olive for blood vessels effect.
  6. Arrange the eyeballs on a serving platter.
  7. Drizzle marinara sauce over the eyeballs to resemble blood.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for extra color and presentation.

Notes

  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be prepared a few hours in advance and refrigerated.
  • Bring to room temperature before serving for optimal flavor.
  • For a vegan version, substitute mozzarella with vegan cheese and salami with plant-based alternatives.
