- 1 box of your favorite vanilla or chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup of buttercream frosting (preferably white or red for extra effect)
- 1 cup of crushed cookies or cookie crumbs for texture
- Chocolate melts or candy coating (dark or milk chocolate)
- Red food coloring and black food coloring
- Mini cake pop sticks
- Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional, for added spooky effect)
- Edible blood splatter gel or homemade red drizzle (see instructions below)
Instructions
- Bake the cake according to the package instructions and allow it to cool completely. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl. Mix in the frosting and cookie crumbs until the mixture is dough-like.
- Form the mixture into small balls and insert mini cake pop sticks into each. Place the formed cakesicles on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour.
- Melt chocolate or candy melts as per package instructions. Dip each frozen cakesicle into the melted chocolate, then tap off excess and place on a cooling rack. Let set for 20 minutes.
- Prepare the blood splatter effect by mixing red food coloring with water or blood gel. Use a toothpick or fine brush to flick or drizzle the red mixture onto the chocolate-coated cakesicles. Add black food coloring to some chocolate or icing to create streaks for a darker effect.
- Optionally, add edible glitter, sprinkles, or creepy decorations. Let everything set for 10-15 minutes before serving.

- Use high-quality melting chocolate for a glossy finish.
- Allow the chocolate shells to set completely before adding blood splatter to prevent smudging.
- Experiment with splatter techniques for different gory effects.
