Spooky & Sweet Rice Krispies Brains: Easy Halloween Treat! Create creepy yet delicious brain-shaped Rice Krispies treats perfect for Halloween parties. These fun and spooky desserts combine marshmallow sweetness with a realistic brain appearance, making your celebration extra festive and memorable.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8-10 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of rice krispies cereal
  • 4 cups of mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • Red and blue food coloring (to create a realistic brain color)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
  • Edible gel or icing (for detailing)

Instructions

  1. Start by finding a brain-shaped mold or a silicone mold that resembles a brain. Lightly grease it with non-stick spray to ensure easy removal after setting.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Add a few drops of red and blue food coloring to the marshmallow mixture and stir well until you achieve a brain-like hue.
  3. Pour the rice krispies cereal into the melted marshmallow mixture. Gently fold until evenly coated. Be careful not to crush the cereal.
  4. Spoon the mixture into your prepared brain mold. Use a spatula or your fingers to press the mixture firmly into all the crevices. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour until firm.
  5. Carefully pop the treats out of the mold. Use edible gel or icing to add details, like veins or fissures, for a realistic brain effect. Dust with powdered sugar for a slightly “brainy” texture if desired.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for a vibrant and realistic brain appearance.
  • Ensure the treats are thoroughly chilled before demolding to prevent breaking.
  • Get creative with decorations—think edible veins or sprinkles for a gross-and-glam effect!
  • You can prepare these treats a day in advance and store in an airtight container in the fridge for freshness.
