Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef, pork, or turkey
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup sweet chili sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into evenly-sized meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, using your hands or a small cookie scoop. Place on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through. Alternatively, cook in a skillet with a little oil over medium heat until browned.
- While the meatballs are baking, mix sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small saucepan. Heat gently over low heat until warmed, stirring occasionally.
- Add cooked meatballs to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Let simmer in the sauce for 5-10 minutes.
Notes
- Use freshly minced garlic and onion for enhanced flavor.
- Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet for even cooking.
- Adjust the sweetness or spiciness of the chili sauce to taste.
- For gluten-free options, substitute with gluten-free breadcrumbs and soy sauce.
