Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 2 large apples, thinly sliced (preferably Fuji or Honeycrisp)
- 8 oz Brie cheese, cut into small chunks or slices
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for drizzling)
- Fresh thyme leaves (optional for garnish)
- Pinch of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Powdered sugar (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Use a round cutter or a glass to cut into 12 equal circles. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Layer a few apple slices in the center of each pastry circle. Top with a small piece of Brie cheese. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Drizzle with honey if using.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake for 15–20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves or powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a sweeter touch, sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving.
- Use sharp knives or a mandoline for even apple slices.
- Ensure the puff pastry is thoroughly thawed for easy handling.
- Can be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
