Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
- Optional herbs: thyme, parsley, or rosemary for added flavor
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until ingredients are well incorporated.
- Shape the meat mixture into a loaf or place it in a loaf pan. Spread ketchup evenly over the top for a flavorful glaze.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Slice and serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Don’t overmix the meat to keep the meatloaf tender and moist.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Prepare the meatloaf ahead of time, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking for added convenience.
