- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: diced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef or turkey over medium heat until browned. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, cook until soft. Drain excess grease and season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheddar cheese, and sour cream. Mix until smooth.
- Spread the cooked meat mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Pour the cheesy mixture over the meat. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until tater tots are golden and crispy.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle additional cheese and green onions before baking.
- You can prepare this casserole ahead and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
- To make it gluten-free, use a gluten-free cream of mushroom soup or homemade béchamel.
